4 Year Anniversary

I Love You Kirk! Thanks for an amazing 4 years. I'm looking forward to the next!
Our Story
As told by Kelli AND Kirk
It all started when Kirk walked into the Welcome Center for a job interview and Kelli was sitting behind the desk. She assumed that Kirk was married (CTR ring on the RIGHT hand). Kirk and Kelli did not see each other for another 4 or 5 months. Kirk had gotten a job as a Resident Assistant. Kelli’s friend Emily England had worked with Kirk at the Governor’s Honors Academy and told Kelli to come and scope Kirk out at the RA retreat. ‘
August 26th
While Kirk was on a break during the RA training Kelli came over to “talk to Emily”, but was really finding out what this Kirk was all about. A few days later Kirk and Kelli had a chance to meet each other again during the Presidential Ambassador retreat.
While Kirk was upstairs at the SUU cabin talking to Matt Johnson, Kelli came running upstairs. It just happened that Kirk and Matt were talking about girls. Kelli ran up at the perfect timing for Kirk to use “want to sit on my lap”. Kelli replied, “Yes.” After saying this she paused, and then ran downstairs. Kirk and Kelli were starting to have a “crush”.
At the retreat a few things stood out to Kelli about Kirk, his blonde hair and dark skin, blue eyes, and that he was friendly and outgoing. The things that stood out to Kirk about Kelli were her blonde hair and her singing. (Kirk says he had a thing for girls who could sing)
A few days after school started, Kirk was using MSN messenger, but had missed Kelli trying to have a conversation. Kelli had gotten Kirk’s email address from Jared Wilcken. Kirk sent an email to her apologizing for missing the chance to talk to her, but at their next chance on MSN, invited Kelli over to sit in the hot tub. She replied that she “couldn’t” because she was doing someone’s hair. Kirk and James Frampton went over to “investigate” that Kelli really was doing her friend’s hair. Upon arriving at Kelli’s apartment they discovered that she really was doing her friends hair. Kirk and James started watching a movie with Kelli and her friend, but her friend left and then James left. Partway through the movie, Kelli and Kirk got bored. Kelli said “This love sac is big enough for two”. (Yes Kirk was over on the couch and Kelli in the love sac to start the movie). So Kirk jumped into the love sac and hit his back on Kelli’s knee. It hurt. They both flirted by trying to hold hands, but didn’t delve too far into that. They had a really good time.
The next time they saw each other Kirk had asked Kelli to come and help him with homework and of course she went right over. Kirk lived in Juniper which was across the street from where Kelli lived in Eccles) To her surprise as soon as she arrived Kirk put on a sweater grabbed a Frisbee and said c’mon lets go have some fun. They went to the upper quad on campus and threw the Frisbee around and then they ran through the trees. It was almost like they were playing mission impossible. They sat on the hill next to the waterfall and Kelli picked up Kirks foot put it next to her ear and said, “You’re alive, you have a heartbeat,” she got that from Little Mermaid. After that she felt a little dumb but Kirk never gave it a second guess he just laughed and asked Kelli to sing. Kelli thinks that she isn’t very good singing on the spot so she was a little nervous but she sang none the less. Then they lay on the hill and talked and then Kirk would joke around by saying, “let’s put on a show.”(For the people that were walking by, show meaning kissing.) But neither would go for it and so they just laughed. On the way home, Kelli asked Kirk if he skipped he said he did and they grabbed hands and skipped across the road then Kelli said, “Good, because that is on my list of things that I want in a husband,” Kirk replied, “Well just give me the rest of the list right now.” He walked Kelli home and it was the end of another fun night.
After that when Kirk and Kelli got together all they did was talk, talk, and talk some more. The talked at school, in their rooms, on-campus housing, the benches. They basically became inseparable but there were a few problems. Kelli had a really good “guy friend” back home and Kirk had a couple people he took out on dates. It was a little frustrating for Kelli because she just wanted to know what Kirk was thinking, did he want to date or not. One night when they were talking on the bench Kirk said he wanted to do something but Kelli couldn’t laugh. He got on one knee and asked Kelli to go to the Homecoming dance with him that happens at SUU. Of course in the end they both laughed so it turned out okay.
The day of the Homecoming dance Kirk picked up Kelli early and they went for a drive up Cedar Canyon and Kirk took Kelli to Cedar breaks. On the way Kirk saw a sign that had the miles posted on it and asked, “What does that sign say?” Kelli saw a different sign that had a cow on it and Kelli replied, “MOO.” It gave them both a great laugh. It is a beautiful area up the canyon. They looked around and took some pictures. Then Kirk said to Kelli, “What would you do if I kissed you?” Of course Kelli responded in a really dumb way. She said, “What kind of a question is that? Its like asking if it hurts when you run into a tree.” Which didn’t make any sense but oh well they kissed anyway. Afterward Kirk asked Kelli if it had hurt. On the way out of the canyon Kirk decided to Kiss Kelli and take a picture and drive at the same time. When they looked up Kirk was about to drive into a tree. Let’s just say that didn’t happen again for safety purposes.
Kelli’s friends were a little “weird” when Kirk went to pick up Kelli at her apartment. Her friends had set up a chair in the middle of the room and each of her friends took turns asking Kirk questions. It felt like an interrogation. Kirk was nervous, but handled the situation well, while Kelli continued to get ready in the next room. They asked a lot of questions like “what kind of plants do you ‘pot’?” “What are your intentions with Kelli”. Kirk couldn’t help but laugh at the craziness of her friends. We met Kyler and Abby and their group at Pizza factory for dinner. It was a lot of good food. After dinner we went to the dance. We had a blast except for the fact that Kelli got mad at Kirk because he wouldn’t help Kelli to become a true t-bird (Kiss her near Old Sorrel) at midnight.
For Kirk and Kelli’s next date (notice how we keep these super inexpensive) they got together with the McEwen’s (then Kyler and Abby Beck). They went up to the upper quad of SUU’s campus and put on a pair of coveralls and stuffed them with air balloons and tried to pop them without using their hands. It was a hilarious game. Then we went to Kyler’s apartment and watched a movie. Well, we basically fell asleep cuddling. Kirk woke up and said “I’m roasting like a toasted cheezer”. Kelli must have been worse because she was still wearing the coveralls. It was another fun date.
Kirk took the first chance he could to meet Kelli’s family. He drove up by himself and stayed with Liz (his sister) and Scott. Kelli didn’t know Kirk was driving and was very surprised when he called and said, “Look at the moon. I wonder if it is the same as the one I see.” She walked outside and their Kirk was standing on the grass. She was so excited! It was fun because he met her grandparents, parents, siblings, nieces and nephews. Great time.
